B48s’ Fund Raising

B-4-8s are launching our first ever fundraising drive by asking you to support us with a donation. This might sound unusual: Why does one of Kent’s most successful Family Support Charity (a sole charity) now ask for financial support from its users?

Sadly, and incredibly, the national “economic situation” is now beginning to seriously impact on the work of the B-4-8s. Over the past year we have experienced exceptional drop in the level of our “normal” funding support the B-4-8s normally benefits from; many funders simply just do have the money to commit at present.

We have a small number of paid staff, just two, and a team of appreciated volunteers. Our total annual expenditure is now less than £85,000 per year. The B-4-8s Centre and resources are free to use by anyone. B-4-8s supports, on average, 3500 families with young children a year, mostly families living in the Shepway District and, occasionally, beyond. This equates to just £24 to support a local family in need.

At its core the Charity's Objects are:

a) to advance the education, training, health and wellbeing of children and young people, their parents and carers, particularly, but not exclusively, by providing information, advice & guidance, training and support services to individuals and families regardless of age, gender, disability, marital status, mental health, nationality, race, religious or political views or affiliations, sexual orientation or socio-economic background.

b) to relieve poverty & disadvantage; and thereby improve the quality of family and individuals’ lives by the provision of such information & advice, training, health and other support services and by the participation in initiatives for the improvement of facilities and services for children, young people and their parents and carers.

The support offered to families by the B-4-8s can take a variety of different forms:

  • Emotional support
  • Information & Advice support
  • Social support
  • Problem solving
  • Advocacy
  • Practical support

We do need to rally the support of local businesses, organisations, statutory agencies and local families to ensure the much needed and valued work of the B-4-8s continues for many more years to come but we do need your support.
Your donation helps us to do this! Most importantly, you will help us keep the B-4-8s Centre open and able to function. Additional funding will also help us improve and build upon our support given to so many local families, particularly with very young children.
We are committed to doing all we can to enable our support service to continue and grow. We wish to recruit new volunteers and build strategic partnerships with local organisations, businesses and agencies. Most of all we are committed to relieving poverty & disadvantage in local families, improving the quality of life of children and families – but we need your support!!

Reiki & Reflexology Taster Sessions

Reiki & Reflexology Taster Sessions

Reiki means ‘universal life-force energy’. It is an ancient hands-on method of healing, which will give you exactly what you need at the time of your healing. For example:

  • Re-charge your batteries or calm your mind
  • Reduce pain & inflammation
  • Helps with problem solving
  • Relieves stress

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that works on the feet or hands enabling the body to heal itself. Following illness, stress, injury or disease, it is in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

These fabulous taster sessions are just £5! Just phone or pop in to book your session!
These taster sessions will be running between April – June 2009

Much more coming soon!
